Cylinder Head Cover - Left

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove intake manifold sight shield. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement Service and Repair
3. Partially drain cooling system, then remove upper radiator hose.
4. Disconnect lefthand side spark plug wires from plugs.
5. Remove upper core support brace.
6. Remove PCV fresh air tube from valve cover.
7. Remove air intake hose and EGR outlet pipe.
8. Remove coolant drive belt shield and coolant pump drive belt.
9. Remove coolant pump drive belt tensioner and coolant pump pulley.
10. Remove oil level dipstick and tube.
11. Remove camshaft seal retainer screws and seal.
12. Remove valve cover attaching bolts.
13. Remove valve cover by moving cam drive end cover up and then pivot entire cover around water pump drive shaft. Continue moving cover upward and pivoting such that edge of cover closely follows the left edge of intake manifold cover. Remove cover, Fig. 3.
14. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Insert intake cam through hole in valve cover and use fingers to guide valve cover up over edge of cylinder head. Use care to prevent exposed section of valve cover seal from being damaged by edge of cylinder head casting.
b. Work cover into position by allowing top edge of cover to follow lefthand edge of intake manifold.
c. When refilling cooling system refer to Cooling System/Service and Repair for important cooling system refill information.
