Hydraulic Control Assembly - Antilock Brakes: Service and Repair

REPLACEMENT

Pressure Modulator Valve (PMV) Assembly:










Pressure Modulator Valve (PMV) Assembly

Remove or Disconnect

1. Air cleaner assembly.
2. Negative battery cable.
3. Electrical connectors to PMV assembly.

- Fluid level switch.
- Pump motor.
- Valve block.

4. Clamp on reservoir hose to PMV reservoir.

- Obtain a 15.5 mm (5/8 in.) plug to be used in next step.

5. Reservoir hose from PMV reservoir and plug hose to prevent escape of brake fluid.
6. Primary and secondary brake pipes from PMV assembly.
7. Brake pipes from PMV assembly
8. Harness strap.
9. PMV assembly bolts.
10. PMV assembly.

Note: When replacing PMV assembly, transfer necessary parts to new unit.

Install or Connect

1. PMV assembly.
2. PMV bolts.

- Tighten bolts to 27 Nm (20 lb. ft.).

3. Harness strap.
4. Brake pipes to PMV assembly.

- Tighten brake pipe to 15 Nm (11 lb. ft.).

5. Primary and secondary brake pipes to PMV assembly
6. Reservoir hose to PMV reservoir.
7. Reservoir clamp.
8. Electrical connectors to PMV assembly.

- Fluid level switch.
- Pump motor.
- Valve block.

9. Negative battery cable.

- Tighten battery cable to 15 Nm (11 lb. ft.).

10. Air cleaner assembly.

- Fill brake fluid reservoir.
- Bleed brake system

Note: clean brake fluid from PMV area to prevent damage to vehicle components. Fill brake fluid reservoir with clean DOT 3 brake fluid and bleed brake system as described under Brake System Bleed. Service and Repair
