Troubleshooting Hints

PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS
1. Check TRUNK REL fuse (Buick) or F/DR REL fuse (Oldsmobile) in rear fuse block.
2. Visually inspect trunk lid release actuator connector and associated wiring.
3. Check that the valet switch is ON.
4. Note that the Buick trunk lid release actuator receives power from the trunk lid release relay only. The Oldsmobile trunk lid release actuator receives power from the relay and also directly from the trunk lid release switch via CKT 1576, the valet switch, and CKT 56.
5. Check that the gear selector lever is in PARK position (Buick only).
6. Before component replacement, check for poor terminal contact at component and related harness connectors.
7. Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems.
8. Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of insulation which could cause system malfunction but prove good in a continuity/voltage check with system disconnected. (Refer to General Troubleshooting Procedures.) Diagnostic Aids
