Component Tests and General Diagnostics

PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS
1. Distinguish remote function actuator (RFA) operation from the operation of the controlled circuits by checking each of the following systems individually:
^ Retained accessory power. (After ignition is turned OFF, does the radio work until a door is opened or 10 minutes elapses?) Refer to Retained Accessory Power. Testing and Inspection
^ Power door locks from all door lock switches. (Refer to Power Door Locks.)
^ Universal theft deterrent system (if equipped). (Refer to Theft Deterrent Systems.) Antitheft and Alarm Systems
^ Courtesy lamps with door ajar. (Refer to Interior Lamps.) Lighting and Horns
^ Trunk lid release from trunk lid release switch. (Refer to Luggage Compartment Lid Release.) Trunk / Liftgate
^ Fuel door release from fuel door release switch. (Refer to Fuel Door Release.) Fuel Door
2. Check I/P1 fuse in the rear fuse block. If it is open, check for short to ground in CKT 40.
3. Check for a poor connection at ground G302.
4. Before component replacement, check for poor terminal contact at component and related harness connectors.
5. Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems.
6. Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of insulation which could cause system malfunction but prove good in a continuity/voltage check with a system disconnected. (Refer to General Troubleshooting Procedures.) Diagnostic Aids
