Arming the System

The normal arming procedures when locking the vehicle is:
^ Close all windows and place shift lever in PARK.
^ Turn the ignition to lock position and remove key.
^ Open any door.
^ Lock doors with electric switch (or use LOCK button on remote keyless entry transmitter).
^ Close doors.

After approximately 30 seconds the "SECURITY" indicator turns off, the system is now armed to sound the alarm if any tamper switch is activated or "tripped."

The alarm can also be armed with the windows open. The alarm can be disarmed only when a door is opened with a key or by using the "UNLOCK" button on remote keyless entry transmitter.

When the doors are opened during the arming procedure, the security system indicator located in the instrument panel flashes intermittently to remind the driver to lock the doors and arm the system. The indicator lights steadily after the doors are locked, and goes off approximately thirty seconds after the doors have been closed. The system is now armed.
