Subject:
Four Plate Second Clutch
Model:
1995 Oldsmobile Aurora
Transaxle Application:
1995 Hydra-Matic 4T80-E (RPO MH1)
Since the start of G-car production in February, 1994 all 4T80-E Transaxles, 5AKN and 5ZYN, contained a 3-plate 2ND clutch.
Because of heat spots on friction plates, starting July 22nd, 1994 (Julian Date 202) all 4T80-E transaxles will have a 4 plate 2ND clutch. These G-Car transaxles will be identified with the following alpha codes: 5BBN and 5BMN.
When servicing a vehicle with a transaxle (5AKN or a 5ZYN) after Julian Date 202, you must use a new 5BBN or 5BMN model with a new Mem-cal for the PCM.
