Troubleshooting Hints - Starter Motor

PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS
1. Check battery hydrometer eye before troubleshooting Starter System.
^ Green eye - battery is charged.
^ Dark eye - battery is discharged. Recharge battery.
^ Clear or yellow eye - battery fluid is low. Replace battery.
2. Always note condition of "SECURITY" Indicator if Engine does not crank. If the indicator stays "ON" or flashes continuously, refer to "Theft Deterrent Systems". Antitheft and Alarm Systems
3. Check that Starter Solenoid terminals and battery connections are clean and tight.
4. Check that ground G301 is clean and tight.
5. Check CRANK Fuse for an open.
