PCM SNAPSHOT DATA
The PCM snapshot feature is designed to assist in diagnosis of intermittent or unrepeatable DTC(s). When a PCM snapshot is taken, all or some of the PCM's data and input parameters from that moment in time are stored for retrieval through the Tech 1 scan tool to aid in diagnosing the problem(s). PCM snapshots are taken in two instances: when most DTC(s) are set, or when DTC 95 (ENGINE STALL DETECTED) occurs.

PCM snapshots may be very useful in diagnosing powertrain faults. Data stored may be retrieved and used to determine if a particular input was out of range when the fault occurred. For this reason, the snapshot feature aids the technician in diagnosing intermittent/unrepeatable DTC(s).

When a DTC(s) set(s), the PCM snapshots a predetermined set of parameters which are listed in Diagnostic Trouble Code Description [determined by the DTC(s) that is set] to be reviewed by the technician using a Tech 1 scan tool. The data list selected contains the parameters most likely related to the DTC(s). Diagnostic Trouble Code Descriptions

To obtain PCM snapshot data (using the Tech 1) select data list (FO) next select PCM snapshot (F3) then select appropriate DTC(s). The PCM has the capability to hold up to three sets of parameters for review. For DTC 95 data select (F4).

The Tech 1 PCM DTC snapshot data lists are divided into two groups, parameters and discretes. Parameters are inputs that have values that are varied. Discretes are inputs that are either "ON" or "OFF."
