with 4.0L Engine (VIN C - RPO L47) and HYDRA-MATIC 4T80-E Transaxle (RPO MH1)

The trouble tree on page 1 of 2 for DTC 39, the YES and NO boxes after step 4 should be switched. A YES answer should lead to page 2 of 2, and a no answer should lead to checking circuit 420 from the splice to terminal "U".
