PCM Ground Circuits:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
Four vehicle grounds are essential for proper powertrain system operation. They are:

1. G102 RH front of engine, underneath engine bracket attached to engine block.
2. G1OO and G101 engine block grounds. RH front, front of engine compartment, attached to engine block then to frame.
3. G103 RH front of engine compartment, above RH horn.
4. G301 negative battery cable, secured to floor pan, right rear of vehicle underneath back seat.

CHART TEST DESCRIPTION
Number(s) below refer to circled number(s) on the diagnostic chart.

Part 2 of 3
1. Checks the integrity of the ground.
2. Checks the integrity of the ground.

Part 3 of 3
3. Checks the integrity of the ground.
4. Checks the integrity of the ground.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
G100 is the ground location for the fuel pump. G301 is the battery ground. G102 and G103 are the grounds for all powertrain electronics including the PCM.
Loose or poor ground connections may cause widely varying problems, from flickering telltales to PCM codes to several driveability problems. The powertrain ground check should be performed when referred to by other diagnostics or when erratic or intermittent problems defy traditional diagnosis.
