Master Cylinder Reservoir Replacement
MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR
Master Cylinder Reservoir, Replace:
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Retainer and electrical connector from fluid level sensor.
2. Drain brake fluid from master cylinder reservoir.
3. Reservoir hose from master cylinder. Plug hose to prevent fluid lost and contamination.
4. Tap back pins until clear of reservoir. Be careful not to damage reservoir or master cylinder. If needed, loosen or remove strut cross bar for access.
5. Reservoir.
6. Seals
INSPECT
^ Reservoir for cracks or deformities. If found, replace reservoir.
^ Reservoir with clean denatured alcohol. Dry with unlubricated compressed air.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Lubricate new teals and reservoir bayonets with clean brake fluid.
2. Seals, making sure they are fully seated.
3. Reservoir onto master cylinder by pressing straight down by hand until pin holes are aligned.
4. Tap in pins to retain reservoir. Be careful not to damage reservoir or master cylinder. If strut cross bar had been loosened or removed, reinstall.
5. Reservoir hose onto master cylinder.
6. Fill matter cylinder reservoir to full level mark using only Delco Supreme 11 Brake Fluid, or equivalent DOT-3 brake fluid.
7. Electrical connector to fluid level sensor, and secure with retainer.
8. Bleed hydraulic system.
9. Recheck fluid level in reservoir.
