Troubleshooting Hints
^ Try the following checks before doing the system diagnosis.1. Check I/P fuse block CHIME fuse by visual inspection.
2. Check rear fuse block I/P 1 and F/DR REL fuses (Oldsmobile), Trunk REL fuse (Buick) and PWR DR LK fuse by visual inspection. If the I/P 1 Fuse is blown (Oldsmobile only), there is still a battery feed from the HZRD/STOP Fuse to the RAC module. Therefore, the RAC module may not be completely shut down.
3. If another transmitter is available, try it. If it works, change batteries in the first transmitter and try it again. If it still doesn't work, it is defective.
4. Check transmitter battery terminals. They should be clean and make good contact with battery.
5. If in doubt as to transmitter battery condition, replace with a new one. Checking battery voltage with a DVOM may give false results.
