Circuit Operation

The electronically tuned Radio receives an ignition signal from I/P Fuse Block RADIO Fuse when the Ignition Switch is in "RUN," "ACCY" or during Retained Accessory Power. The clock and memory circuits receive power from Rear Fuse Block UP 2 Fuse at all times. With the Ignition Switch in "RUN," "ACCY" or during Retained Accessory Power, the vacuum fluorescent display illuminates to display the time or radio frequency setting. When the Radio "ON/OFF" switch is switched "ON," voltage is applied to the internal circuitry which provides a Radio "ON" signal to the power antenna and amplifier (if equipped).

The Radio illumination is controlled by the panel/interior lamp control dimmer. When the head/park lamp switch is in "PARK" or 'HEAD," voltage is applied through the dimmer control to the Radio panel lamp and the internal circuitry. When the head/park lamp switch control dimmer switch is switched to "PARK" or "HEAD," voltage is applied through the I/P Fuse Block INT LPS Fuse to the Radio, signaling the internal circuitry to adjust the brightness of the vacuum fluorescent display to a level determined by the dimmer control.
