Troubleshooting Hints
Diagnostic PreparationBefore beginning any operation check, make sure the following components and circuits work properly:
^ Parking lamps
^ Low beam headlamps
^ Horn
^ Electrical door locks
Make sure the headlamps and parking lamps are off. Open a window in order to unlock the door without using a key. The "SECURITY" indicator should not be on while performing these steps.
^ Note: For "No Crank" or "No Start" condition, refer to PASS-Key II diagnosis. Testing and Inspection
^ Try the following checks before doing the "System Check":
1. Check I/P Fuse Block CHIME fuse, and Rear Fuse Block I/P 1 fuse and Right Front Underhood Relay Center HORN fuse by visual inspection. If the I/P 1 fuse is blown (Oldsmobile only), there is still a battery feed sneak path from the HZRD/STOP fuse to the RAC module. Therefore, the RAC module may not be completely shut down.
2. When an intermittent problem exists, check applicable connectors for proper terminal contact, refer to "Intermittents and Poor Connections" in Diagrams.
