DTC 97 Chart:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The transaxle range switch provides the Powertrain Control Switch (PCM) with park/neutral range information for starting the vehicle as well as information for torque management and idle speed control.
DTC 97 WILL SET WHEN
- No DTCs 21 and 22.
- Gear selection changed from park or neutral to drive or reverse.
- Vehicle speed less than 6 mph.
- Engine speed greater than 2000 RPM.
- Throttle angle of 20 degrees or greater (if DTC 97 is already stored in history), use a throttle angle of 16 degreesor greater.
- All conditions met for 3 seconds.
ACTION TAKEN (PCM WILL DEFAULT TO)
DTC 97 does not illuminate the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (Service Engine Soon).
DTC 97 WILL CLEAR WHEN
The fault no longer exists and the ignition switch is cycled OFF" and "ON."
DTC CHART TEST DESCRIPTION

1. This test checks for possible failures other than an engagement at high throttle angle.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
This test checks for a park/neutral to drive/reverse transition with a low vehicle speed, high engine speed and throttle angle higher than the maximum range of the idle speed control actuator.
