DTC 124

DTC 124 Chart:

A/C Compressor Control Circuit:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) monitors the A/C request line which originates at the HVAC controller. This line provides 12 volts to the A/C low pressure switch on CKT 762 when A/C is requested. The PCM monitors the voltage on the A/C low pressure switch CKT 603. If voltage is present on CKT 603 with no A/C request the fault is present.

DTC 124 WILL SET WHEN
- DTC 135 not set.
- A/C compressor not requested by HVAC.
- Voltage present on CKT 603 for 20 seconds.

ACTION TAKEN (PCM WILL DEFAULT TO)
- Disable A/C compressor clutch.
- DTC 124 does not illuminate the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (Service Engine Soon).

DTC 124 WILL CLEAR WHEN
The fault no longer exists.

DTC CHART TEST DESCRIPTION
Number(s) below refer to circled number(s) on the diagnostic chart.

1. Determines if conditions to set DTC 124 are present.
2. With the A/C low pressure switch disconnected and ignition "ON," the Tech 1 "A/C Request" should display "OFF."
3. With the A/C low pressure switch disconnected, there should not be any voltage present on CKT 604.
4. With the HVAC programmer disconnected there should not be any voltage present at the A/C low pressure switch connector terminal "A".
