DTC 108
DTC 51/108 Chart:
PCM Power And Ground Circuits:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The PCM PROM contains data which is essential in running the engine and transaxle, DTC 51/108 checks the integrity of this data. The PROM data is divided into two halves or sides in the PROM. DTC 51 checks one half of this data and DTC 108 checks the other half.
The integrity of the data is checked by adding up the data in all locations of the PROM. This is called the checksum. If the checksum does not equal what it should, then the DTC is set. The checksum is only checked when the ignition is turned "OFF" and if it does not match, the DTC will set the next time the ignition is turned "ON."
DTC 51/108 WILL SET WHEN
- A bad connection between PCM and PROM.
- Incorrect data in the PCM due to electromagnetic discharge, or a faulty PROM.
- An internal PCM problem.
ACTION TAKEN
PCM will illuminate the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (Service Engine Soon).
DTC 51/108 WILL CLEAR WHEN
The fault no longer exists and the ignition switch is cycled "OFF" and "ON."
