Drum And Lining Break-In
PARKING BRAKE SHOE
Drum In Disc Brake Type Lining Break-in
CAUTION:
Do not carry out the break-in procedure excessively. Doing so may cause uneven or premature wear of the brake shoe lining.
When new parking brake shoes or brake rotors are installed or when parking brake performance is poor, perform the following break-in procedure.
1.Drive the unloaded vehicle on a safe, level and dry road.
2.Perform parking brake break-in (drag on) operation by driving under the following conditions:
- Drive forward
- Vehicle speed: Approximately 40 km/h +5/-0 (25 MPH +3/-0) set (constant and forward)
- Parking brake operating force: 100 N +49/-0 (10.2 +5.0/-0 kg, 22.5 +11.0/-0 lb) set contact.
- Time: Approximately 5 +5/-0 seconds.
CAUTION:
- To prevent lining from getting too hot, allow a cool off period of approximately 5 minutes after every break-in operation.
- Never perform excessive break-in operations, because doing so may cause uneven or early wear of the lining.
3.After break-in procedure, check parking brake lever adjustment.
CAUTION:
If it is out of the specification, adjust again. Refer to Adjustments.
