Body - Corrosion On Trunk Lid Below Chrome Moulding

IF YOU CONFIRM

Surface corrosion is visible on the trunk lid below the chrome license lamp finisher (chrome finisher).

ACTION





^ Using standard auto body repair practices, perform a Refinish Half-Block Repair to the area of the trunk lid that has surface corrosion.

^ As instructed in the Service Procedure, apply pieces from the new Rubber Seal Kit (see Parts Information) onto the chrome finisher.

The purpose of ACTION (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire Service Procedure as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair.





CLAIMS INFORMATION

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Remove the chrome finisher.

^ Refer to License Lamp Finisher in the El section of the applicable Electronic Service Manual (ESM) for removal instructions.

2. Using standard auto body repair practices, perform a Refinish Half-Block Repair to the area of the trunk lid that has surface corrosion. See *** in the Claims Information section.

NOTE:
This repair must be performed by a qualified auto body/paint shop. Refer to the Nissan Warranty Paint Flat Rate Manual for information on or definition of a Refinishing Half-Block Repair.





3. Remove the four (4) rubber seal pieces from the chrome finisher.

4. Inspect the chrome finisher for surface corrosion and clean as needed.








5. Locate the six (6) "stepped" areas of the chrome finisher. See Figures 3 and 4.

6. As instructed in this Procedure, install six (6) rubber seal pieces from the Rubber Seal Kit listed in the Parts Information section.





NOTE:
When installing a rubber seal piece, make sure it is positioned as shown in Figure 5.

a) For "stepped" areas 1 and 6:





^ Remove the backing paper of a rubber seal piece.





^ Center the rubber seal on the "stepped" area and press down to attach.





^ Confirm the bottom edge of the rubber seal is no more than 0.5mm from the edge of the chrome finisher.

b) For "stepped areas 2 and 4:





^ Remove the backing paper of a rubber seal piece.

^ DO NOT center the rubber seal piece on the "stepped" area.





^ Position the rubber seal so the right edge is no more than 0.5mm from the edge of the chrome finisher.

Press down to attach.





^ Confirm the rubber seal covers the "stopper" (raised part) at the edge of the chrome finisher.

c) For "stepped areas 3 and 5:





^ Remove the backing paper of a rubber seal piece.

^ DO NOT center the rubber seal piece on the "stepped" area.





^ Position the rubber seal so the left edge is no more than 0.5mm from the edge of the chrome finisher.

Press down to attach.





^ Confirm the rubber seal covers the "stopper" (raised part) at the edge of the chrome finisher.

7. Reinstall the chrome finisher.

^ Refer to License Lamp Finisher in the El section of the applicable Electronic Service Manual (ESM) for installation instructions.

8. Confirm none of the rubber seal pieces are visible.
