TPMS APPLICATION CHANGES DUE TO THAILAND FLOOD
This bulletin has been amended. The "Supply Change Date" for Altima was corrected. Please discard previous versions of this bulletin.
APPLIED VEHICLES
SERVICE INFORMATION
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) parts supply was impacted due to the recent Thailand flood.
As a result, several vehicles will temporarily switch to a different TPMS supplier.
This change will be done for a limited time until normal parts supply is resumed.
^ These changes do not affect the overall function of the TPMS.
^ These changes do affect the interchangeability of parts.
Refer to the information in this bulletin to make sure the correct TPMS sensors are used when servicing a TPMS system on applied vehicles.
IMPORTANT:
^ TPMS Sensors must match (do not mix parts during service repairs):
> A vehicle must have 4 sensors of the same type (same supplier).
^ Do not swap full wheel and tire assemblies between vehicles equipped with different style TPMS systems (different style TPMS sensors)
^ Issues caused by installation of incorrect sensors is not a warrantable repair.
CAUTION:
^ There are three different styles of TPMS.
^ Components are not compatible and cannot be interchanged between these different styles.
^ Swapping of components between these styles can cause the TPMS to stop operating correctly.
^ If wheel swaps are done between models with different style TPMS, the original sensors must stay with the vehicle.
^ Do not assume that failure of a sensor to register means an inoperative sensor. Confirm that the correct sensors are installed.
Refer to the information in this bulletin to identify the different style TPMS sensors.
NOTE:
^ If further confirmation of the correct TPMS sensor part number is required, review the part number of the originally installed equipment before replacement.
^ Refer to the electronic parts catalog (FAST or equivalent) for the correct Part Number application - FAST data will not be updated until end of January 2012.
Service for "Continental" Sensors ONLY
^ Service for sensors supplied by "Continental is different than the sensors supplied by the other suppliers.
^ ONLY when servicing sensors supplied by "Continental (2012 Altima Sedan, Altima Coupe, Maxima, Xterra, Frontier, and Pathfinder), refer to the service procedure on the following pages.
