For Customer Owned Vehicles (Vehicle Has Been Sold to A Customer)

For customer owned vehicles:
(Vehicle has been sold to a customer.)


1. Lift the vehicle on a hoist.





2. Locate the bolts shown in Figure 1.

^ Four (4) transverse link bolts:

^ Two (2) power steering rack bolts:

3. For each of the 6 bolts shown in Figure 1 above, check for looseness as follows:

a. Set torque wrench to 55 N-m (5.6 kg-m, 40 ft-lb).

b. Use a wrench to hold the nuts (keep them from turning) on the top side of the bolt.

^ A wrench on the nut must be used when checking bolt looseness.

c. Use the torque wrench to check each bolt.

d. Make a note, keep track of each bolt - moves, or does not move.

NOTE:
In most cases none of the bolts will move.

OK - Bolt does not move (bolt is not loose).

For each bolt that does not move:

A. One at a time - loosen each bolt 1/4 to 1/2 turn and then re-torque to final torque specification.

^ Final torque specification 155 N-m (16 kg-m, 114 ft-lb).

NOTE:
Make sure to use a wrench to hold the nut on the top side of each bolt.

NG - Bolt moves (bolt is loose).

For each bolt that moves:

A. Replace the bolt and nut.

^ If there is more than one bolt that moves, replace them one at a time.

^ Refer to the Parts Information for the correct bolt part number.

B. Torque the bolt and nut to the final torque specification.

^ Final torque specification 155 N-m (16 kg-m, 114 ft-lb).

NOTE:
Make sure to use a wrench to hold the nut on the top side of each bolt.
