PASSENGER SIDE : Disassembly and Assembly
SEAT ASSEMBLY WITH SIDE AIR BAG MODULE
Disassembly
1.Remove the front seat assembly. Sedan.
2.Remove the seatback board using the following steps:
NOTE:
The seatback board is attached to the seat frame with the following:
- Two top metal clips (A)
- Two side hooks (B)
- Two bottom hooks (C)
a.Pull the middle of seatback board away from the seatback frame while pressing the side hooks (B) inward until the bottom hooks (C) release.
b.Using a suitable tool, pinch the top metal clips (A) to disengage from the slot feature on the seatback frame, then remove the seatback board.
3.Release the seven seatback retainers (A) and the push pins (B) from the seatback frame.
4.From the bottom of the seat, unhook the two seat skirt hooks attached at the seat cushion support (spring).
5.Press both headrest holder buttons in, then remove the headrest.
6.Remove the headrest holders by firmly grasping each bezel while pulling outward and rocking simultaneously. Discard headrest holders after removal.
CAUTION:
Do not reuse headrest holders.
7.Remove the seat side finisher (1).
a.Remove the screws (A).
b.Insert a suitable tool (B) between the seat cushion (1) and the seat side finisher (2), then release the metal clip by pushing on the finger (C).

Distance (A): 50 mm (2 in)
c.Release the remaining clips and remove the seat side finisher.

8.Remove and discard the two side air bag module nuts (A) from the side air bag module (1).
Air bag module nuts (A): 7.0 Nm (0.71 kg-m, 62 in-lb)
CAUTION:
Do not reuse the side air bag module nuts.
9.Remove lower side air bag module harness clip (<==) from seat frame.
10.Remove upper side air bag module harness clips (<==) from seat frame.
11.Disconnect the side air bag harness connector.
12.Disconnect the lumbar motor harness connector and heated seat harness connector (if equipped).
13.Route the harness through the seatback cover and remove the side air bag module from the side air bag module chute within the seatback cover.
14.Disengage the side air bag module studs from the seatback frame, then lift seatback cover and seatback foam pad up together.
CAUTION:
Pull seatback cover and foam pad up slowly away from seat frame, or the foam pad may get torn.
15.Slide the side air bag module out from the chute.
16.If necessary, separate the seatback cover from the seatback pad.
a.Pull the seatback from the seatback pad to detach the velcro fasteners.
b.Cut the center of hog rings to remove.
NOTE:
Remove all pieces of hog rings and discard them.
Assembly
Assembly is in the reverse order of disassembly. During assembly, note the following.
- Insert plastic cover panel (3) into the opening between seat back cover liner (1) and air bag module chute (2).
- Make sure plastic cover panel (3) is pushed fully into the bottom of the seatback cover pocket (1) and air bag module chute (2) as shown.
NOTE:
Make sure the contour of plastic cover panel corresponds to contour of trim.
- When installing the seatback cover, firmly push down while sliding your hand along the seams as shown (<==) to ensure the velcro fasteners below the seatback cover are fastened properly.
- Install new hog rings on the seatback cover in the original position.
SE
- Make sure the side air bag chute (4) is pulled over the outboard surface of the side air bag module (3). Make sure there are no wrinkles and the chute is not folded, twisted or pinched.

CAUTION:
- If a malfunction was detected by the air bag warning lamp, after repair or replacement of the malfunction parts, reset the memory using self-diagnosis or CONSULT.
- After work is completed, check that no system malfunction is detected by air bag warning lamp.
- Always install new side air bag module attaching nuts.
- Always route side air bag module harness in original location. Replace any deformed or damaged clips with same type and color. Always install clips in the original location in the harness.
- Smooth out all wrinkles during assembly.
- Inspect seatback foam pad, seatback cover and seatback cover chutes. Replace any damaged parts.
- Replace any deformed or damaged parts.
- Replace any deformed or damaged hog rings. Ensure any old hog ring pieces are removed from the seat.
- Use only one hog ring in each designated location.
- Ensure hog rings are correctly fastened around both the seatback cover and seatback foam pad wires.
NOTE:
Use NISSAN standard hog rings and tools to assemble.
