M/T - Shifter Lever Contacts Console Trim

When shifting into reverse, the shifter lever of a MT equipped vehicle contacts the console boot of the center console finisher assembly.

ACTION:

Reposition the collars of both left side grommets on the MT shift selector assembly.

^ Refer to SERVICE PROCEDURE in this bulletin.

The purpose of ACTION (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire Service Procedure as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT:
Make sure the parking brake is applied during repairs.





1. Remove the center console assembly (console).

^ Refer to the BODY INTERIOR> Instrument Panel section of the Electronic Service Manual (ESM), if needed.

^ Use a suitable plastic pry tool when removing the console boot (see Figure 2).





^ To avoid having to replace the shifter lever knob when removing the console: Loosen the console boot, carefully fit it inside the console, and then proceed to remove the console.





2. Remove the four (4) bolts securing the MT shift selector assembly (see Figure 4).

NOTE:
The MT shift selector assembly does not need to be removed from the vehicle. Only the bolts need to be removed.





3. Remove both left (driver) side grommet collars from the top, and then reinstall through the bottom of the grommets (see Figure 5).

4. Reinstall the four (4) bolts.

^ Bolts torque: 4.4 - 6.6 Nm (0.45 - 0.67 kg-m, 38.9 - 58.4 in lb)

5. Reinstall the console.

^ Make sure the shifter lever does not contact the console boot.
