Diagnostic Reference Information

CONSULT-II Reference Value in Data Monitor Mode

Part 1 Of 2:

Part 2 Of 2:

Remarks:
- Specification data are reference values.
- Specification data are output/input values which are detected or supplied by the ECM at the connector.

* Specification data may not be directly related to their components signals/values/operations.

i.e. Adjust ignition timing with a timing light before monitoring IGN TIMING, because the monitor may show the specification data in spite of the ignition timing not being adjusted to the specification data. This IGN TIMING monitors the data calculated by the ECM according to the signals input from the camshaft position sensor and other ignition timing related sensors.

- If the real-time diagnosis results are NG and the on board diagnostic system results are OK when diagnosing the mass air flow sensor, first check to see if the fuel pump control circuit is normal.

The following are the major sensor reference graphs in "DATA MONITOR" mode. (Select "HI SPEED" in "DATA MONITOR" with CONSULT-II.)

THRTL POS SEN, ABSOL TH-P/S, CLSD THL/P SW
Above is the data for "THRTL POS SEN", "ABSOL TH-P/S" and "CLSD THL/P SW" when depressing the accelerator pedal with the ignition switch "ON".

The signal of "THRTL POS SEN" and "ABSOL TH-P/S" should rise gradually without any intermittent drop or rise after "CLSD THL/P SW" is changed from "ON" to "OFF".

CMPS-RPM (REF), MAS AIR/FL SE, THRTL POS SEN, RR O2 SEN, FR O2 SEN, INJ PULSE
Below is the data for "CMPS-RPM (REF)", "MAS AIR/FL SE", "THRTL POS SEN", "RR O2 SEN", "FR O2 SEN" and "INJ PULSE" when rewing engine quickly up to 4,800 rpm under no load after warming up engine to normal operating temperature.

Each value is for reference, the exact value may vary.
