COMPONENT DESCRIPTION
The ECM consists of a microcomputer, diagnostic test mode selector, and connectors for signal input and output and for power supply. The unit controls the engine.

ON BOARD DIAGNOSIS LOGIC:









DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

NOTE: If "DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE" has been previously conducted, always turn ignition switch "OFF" and wait at least 5 seconds before conducting the next test.

With Consult
1. Turn ignition switch "ON".
2. Select "DATA MONITOR" mode with CONSULT-II.
3. Start engine.
4. Run engine for at least 30 seconds at idle speed.
5. If 1st trip DTC is detected, go to "Diagnostic Procedure" below.

OR

With Generic Scan Tools
1. Turn ignition switch "ON".
2. Start engine.
3. Run engine for at least 30 seconds at idle speed.
4. Select "Mode 7" with GST
5. If 1St trip DTC is detected, go to "Diagnostic Procedure" below.

OR

Without Scan Tools
1. Turn ignition switch "ON".
2. Start engine and wait at least 30 seconds.
3. Turn ignition switch "OFF", wait at least 5 seconds and then turn "ON".
4. Perform "Diagnostic Test Mode II" (Self-diagnostic results) with ECM.
5. If 1st trip DTC is detected, go to "Diagnostic Procedure" below.
