Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Testing and Inspection
Mass Air Flow Sensor Test:
1. Pull the rubber insulator back from the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) connector.
2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
3. Start and warm the engine to operating temperature and then let it idle.
4. Using a volt meter, check voltages between terminal 1 and ground under the following conditions.
Idling: Approximately: 0.85 - 1.35 VOLTS.
Ignition "ON" "ENGINE STOPPED": Approximately: 0.2 VOLTS.
Mass Air Flow Sensor Components:
Note: If the MAF sensor fails the above test, check the "hot film resistor" for dust or damage and replace the MAF sensor if necessary.
