Air Cleaner Housing: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
An air cleaner is used to allow only filtered air into the intake system. A extended air horn is provided to draw cooler air from outside the engine compartment.


CONSTRUCTION
The air cleaner housing is made of plastic. The filter element inside is constructed of paper with a rubber seal along the edge. When installing, pay attention to the direction of flow usually indicated on one side of the filter.
