1. Set strut assembly in vise.
2. Loosen, do not remove, piston rod locknut.
3. Compress spring using suitable spring compressor tool until strut upper spring seat can be turned by hand.
4. Remove piston locknut.
5. Remove strut assembly components.
6. Reverse procedure to assemble, noting following:
a. When installing coil spring, use care not to reverse top and bottom direction, Fig. 7.
b. When installing spring on strut, position as shown in Fig. 8.
