Rear Knuckle: Service and Repair

1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove wheel bearing locknut.
3. Remove brake caliper assembly and support by frame using suitable wire.

4. Separate driveshaft from axle housing (knuckle) by slightly tapping with a suitable soft face hammer, Fig. 9.

5. Remove axle housing attaching bolts then axle housing, Fig. 10.
6. Remove wheel bearing with flange and wheel hub from axle housing.
7. Using a suitable press, press off wheel bearing from wheel hub.
8. Reverse procedure to install, noting following:

a. Install wheel bearing as shown in Fig. 11.
b. Ensure wheel bearing axial endplay is 0.0020 inch or less.
