Owner Letter
OWNER LETTERDear Nissan ZX owner:
Nissan is deeply concerned with the safety of our customers. For that reason, we want to make sure that you are aware of the safest way to transport your children in child safety seats.
Recent news reports have pointed out that the rear-facing child safety seat on the front passenger seat in vehicles equipped with a passenger airbag can result in serious injury or even death to an infant if the airbag deploys. Although no children have been injured in any Nissan vehicles, we are enclosing new sun visor warning labels about airbags and child seats to promote the continued safety of children in our vehicles.
Directions for affixing these labels to your sun visor are included on the back of this letter, OR if you prefer, your local Nissan dealer will be happy to install the labels at no charge. Please take this letter and the enclosed labels with you should you decide to have the labels installed at a dealership.
In addition, we urge you to read the instructions and warnings in your owner's manual about airbags, seat belts and child seats. Please remember, small children should always be in child seats, and the safest place for any child seat is in the back seat. Babies always belong in a rear-facing child seat in the back seat. Older children in forward-facing child seats should also be in the back seat. This applies to the 2+2 model, which has a rear seat. A rear-facing child seat should never be used in a 2 seat (no rear seat) model. If an older child in a forward facing child seat must be on the front seat, always move the front seat as far back as possible.
As always, a Nissan representative will be happy to discuss any questions or concerns that you may have. Our toll-free number is 800-647-7261. If you reside in Hawaii, please call (808)836-0888.
As the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says: "A child safety seat can save your child's life, but it's important to use it correctly." Please remember to always wear your seat belt, and make sure everyone else in your car uses theirs also.
