300ZX CONVERTIBLE TOP STORAGE LID HANDLES

APPLIED MODEL 30OZX Convertible

SERVICE INFORMATION

If an owner of the convertible 300ZX complains of the convertible top's storage-lid handles cracking and having a poor appearance, utilize the following procedure.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Lower the soft top completely into the storage area.





2. Remove the cloth finisher from under the storage lid assembly to expose the screws that fasten the front edge of the top lid (refer to the Service Manual's Body & Frame section).

3. Remove the 6 mm screws inside of both the left and right handles.

4. Place the wind-deflector in the open (active) position.





5. Unsnap the plastic retainers along the rear edge of the top lid by pulling it away from the storage assembly.

6. Remove the cracked/damaged handles by cutting the 4 pins above the push clips.

7. Install the new handles on the top lid and secure them by inserting the pins into the push clips.

8. Reverse steps 2 through 5 above, and ensure that the tightening torque of the 6 mm screws inside the handles does not exceed 8 inch pounds.
