APPLIED MODELS:
1994 300ZX
SERVICE INFORMATION
1994 300ZX models will be finished with New Cross Link Clear Coat (NCLC). The NCLC paint finish provides a high level of protection against environmental damage as well as extended gloss life. NCLC is designed with uniform chemical cross-linking which provides a paint film which is hard enough to resist acid rain damage and yet is elastic enough to provide resistance to scratching.
Authorized Paint Suppliers
Nissan is working with refinish paint vendors to develop approved materials and procedures for proper refinishing of vehicles with NCLC. To ensure proper color matching, adhesion, and long term wear characteristics, vehicles needing paint refinish work must be refinished with products that have been tested and approved by Nissan for use with this unique new clear coat finish. At the time of this publication, the refinish paint manufacturers (See Illustration) have provided materials and procedures which meet Nissan requirements:
If your paint system supplier does not have Nissan-approved NCLC refinish products, specific technical advice can be acquired from the local distributor of one of the paint suppliers listed above. If your paint supplier is not approved and you need refinish materials from one of the approved vendors, you will also need to purchase the necessary primers, reducers, hardeners and base coats from that distributor. Cuffent refinish materials are designed to work as a system and products from different vendors should not be intermixed.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
When repairing a panel with the NCLC refinish products, follow the guidelines below:
Note:
Users of AKZO-Sikkens refinishing materials should contact their local AKZO representative to obtain a more detailed refinishing procedure when blending is required.

1. Clean and dry panel or repair area.
2. Using an appropriate wax and grease remover, clean any contaminants from the panel.
3. Abrade the panel surface as recommended by the supplier of your paint.
