SERVICE INFORMATION

This bulletin describes the changes to Dealer installed A/C Systems on 1994 model year vehicles.

B13 Sentra

For 1994 vehicles, R-134a refrigerant has been adopted. For more details of the refrigerant change, refer to bulletins NTB93-001 (HA93-OO1) and NTB93-163 (HA93-019). The '94 R-134a A/C kits should not be applied to '93 or earlier Sentras, or engine overheating may occur.

Because there is no 1994 NX model, the 1994 Sentra A/C system applies only to 1994 Sentra.

The clips which secure the high pressure tube (liquid tank outlet tube) across the top of the condenser are now located on the high pressure tube; they were previously located on the condenser.

With the adoption of R-134a, some of the 1994 condenser fans have improved heat resistance. The 1994 condenser tans must be used for 1994 vehicles, and can be used on earlier models as well.

The 1993 and earlier condenser fans must not be used on the 1994 model.

For 1994, the GA16DE high pressure hose has a clamp securing the hose to the compressor for improved durability. (This change was made to the SR2ODE for the 1993 model year). For kit and fan sub-kit part number information, see attachment.

R-134a refrigerant was adopted as a running change during the 1993 model year. For more details of the refrigerant change, refer to bulletins NTB93-OO1 (HA93-001) and NTB93-149 (HA93-016).

The attachment of the condenser upper mounting brackets is different for the R-134a condenser as compared to the R-12 condenser.

The A/C system illustration from the installation instructions showing the brackets attaching to the condenser may not be clear. Below is an enlarged illustration which shows the proper attachment of the brackets to the R-134a condenser.

U13 Altima

The new passenger side airbag (standard equipment for '94) has no effect on A/C installation.

During installation of the high pressure tube, the tube must be routed between the two legs of the main vehicle harness which connects to the battery positive terminal. An improved illustration for this routing is shown, and will be incorporated into the A/C installation instructions as a running change.

D21 Truck / WD21 Pathfinder

All 1994 Trucks and Pathfinder:

^ The instrument panel has been updated for all 1994 Trucks and Pathfinder, which affects the disassembly procedure for the glove box and center bezel (A/C switch sub-harness installation).

^ The driver's side lower vent and duct has been deleted.

^ For the Pathfinder Semi-Auto A/C system, refer to Technical Bulletin NTB-170 (HA93-021) for complete details.

All 1994 Trucks

^ The A/C sub-harness is no longer required because the main vehicle harness has been lengthened, with the A/C switch harness connector secured in place. To install the A/C switch, simply remove the blind plug and install the switch. There is no need to disassemble the center bezel on 94 Trucks.

All VG-30 1994 Trucks and Pathfinder:

The drain hose clip (under the passenger side floor/foot area) is now a part of the A/C kit (previously installed on every vehicle). The screws to secure the clip are reused vehicle parts.

The high pressure tube (liquid tank to cooling unit) has minor bend changes to accommodate a slightly repositioned fuel filter. The new tube is OK to use in earlier models, the previous tube cannot be used in the '94 model (one way interchangeability).
