Rear Knuckle: Service and Repair

Fig. 1 Exploded View Of Wheel Hub Assembly:

1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel.
2. Remove brake caliper assembly and support from frame using suitable wire.
3. Remove brake rotor.
4. Remove wheel bearing locknut, Fig. 1.
5. Remove wheel hub from spindle.
6. Separate tie rod ball joint and lower ball joint from knuckle.
7. Remove strut to knuckle attaching bolts.
8. Remove knuckle assembly from vehicle.
9. Reverse procedure to install, checking bearing axial endplay as outlined in Wheel Bearing and adjust as necessary.
