SRS Diagnostic System Description

Nissan currently uses two different types of Air Bag Modules, a Mechanical Sensor and an Electrical Sensor type. The Electrical Sensor type was introduced on the 1995 Maxima and 1995 240SX.

A. User Mode: Normal System Operation. The SRS Lamp displays system status to the Driver.

B. Present Diagnosis Mode: Problem code displayed.

C. (*) Initial Diagnosis Mode: Shows problem code that was last indicated during Present Diagnosis Mode.

(*) Initial Diagnosis Mode was eliminated with the introduction of the Electrical Sensor type Air Bag Module.

If the Air Bag light is flashing or remains "ON" after the 7 second "Bulb Check", further diagnosis will be necessary.
