Idle Up Control Valve: Description and Operation

Idle Air Control Valve-FICD:

PURPOSE
Increases idle speed when the A/C compressor is engaged.

LOCATION
Located on the IAA unit.

OPERATION
When voltage is applied to the coil of the A/C compressor clutch, voltage is also supplied to the Fast Idle control Device (FICD). The FICD becomes energized and opens an additional air pasage. Air by-passes the throttle valve, thereby raising idle speed.
