EGR Backpressure Transducer: Description and Operation
EGR Back Pressure Transducer (EGR-BPT) Cut-Away View:
PURPOSE
The EGR-Back Pressure Transducer (EGR-BPT) will allow vacuum to pass to the EGR valve only when the correct amount of exhaust back-pressure is present.
LOCATION
On the Intake Manifold, near the EGR Valve.
OPERATION
Exhaust back-pressure acts on the lower portion of a spring loaded diaphragm. When the exhaust pressure over-comes the spring tension the diaphragm raises and covers a vacuum bleed port. Vacuum will then pass through the BPT valve to the EGR valve.
