Multiport Fuel Injection (MFI) System

Multiport Fuel Injection (MFI) System:

PURPOSE
The Multiport Fuel Injection (MFI) Control System is designed to take inputs from various sensors and decide how much fuel the engine needs.

OPERATION
Voltage signals from the input sensors are read by the ECM. The ECM will compensate the amount of fuel injected by varying the "ON" time of the injector(s).

Fuel injector "ON" time will INCREASE due to:
^ Warming up the engine
^ Cranking the engine
^ During acceleration
^ During high engine speeds

Fuel injector "ON" time will DECREASE due to:
^ During deceleration
^ During cruise
^ When the vehicle and/or engine reach a preset speed threshold.
