This bulletin amends the original by adding additional models and including a baulk ring installation caution. Discard the original bulletin.

Some of the Affected Vehicles above may exhibit a raking noise when shifting from 1st to 2nd, 3rd to 2nd and 2nd to 1st. To reduce this noise, new 1st and 2nd baulk rings, 1st and 2nd synchronizer hub, and reverse main gear (coupling sleeve) are available.

SERVICE PROCEDLIRE

Refer to the appropriate Service Manual for disassembly and assembly procedures. During assembly, make sure to measure the clearance between baulk rings and gears. If the clearance is smaller than the standard, the gears should be replaced.

BAULK RING TO GEAR CLEARANCE:

Baulk ring to gear clearance:

Standard 1.0 - 1.35 mm (0.0394 - 0.0531 in)

BAULK RING SPECIFICATIONS:

CAUTION: Make sure the 1st and 2nd baulk rings are installed in the correct position. The 1st baulk ring has 9 teeth between inserts (27 total) and the 2nd baulk ring has 11 teeth between inserts (33 total). Do not reverse them.
