Idle Speed: Adjustments
1. On carbureted engines, proceed as follows:
a. Start and operate engine until normal operating temperature is reached.
b. Ensure engine idle speed is correct with A/C system OFF.
c. Engine idle speed should be 550-750 RPM.
d. Set engine idle speed with A/C system ON.
e. Loosen adjusting screw locknut, then rotate adjusting screw. Engine speed increases as the adjusting screw is turned clockwise.
f. Engine idle speed with A/C system ON should be 800-900 RPM on manual transaxle models or 600-650 RPM on automatic transaxle models.
g. Depress and release accelerator pedal several times and ensure engine speed is at specification.
2. On EFI models, proceed as follows:
a. With the A/C system OFF, engine idle speed is set and cannot be adjusted. On manual transaxle models, idle speed should be 650-850 RPM. On automatic transaxle models, idle speed should be 600-800 RPM.
b. Ensure correct engine idle speed is obtained.
c. With A/C system ON, loosen adjusting screw locknut and turn throttle chamber housing adjusting screw until 800-900 RPM is obtained on manual transaxle models or 600-800 RPM is obtained on automatic transaxle models.
