FRONT BRAKE NOISE
APPLIED MODEL: 1987 Stanza (T12)
SERVICE INFORMATION
The front brakes of some 1987 Stanza vehicles with low mileage may exhibit a grinding noise. This noise usually occurs when the brakes are lightly applied at 0-30 mph and is most likely caused by a protective coating which is applied to the rotor surface at the factory. This coating is designed to inhibit rust and corrosion during shipping and storage. The coating usually wears off after approximately fifty (50) brake applications.
NOTE: DO NOT machine the rotors to remove the anti-rust protective coating.
If a customer complains about this condition, check for damaged or worn brake components. If nothing is found, then the anti-rust coating is the probable cause of the noise. In this case, explain to the customer that the noise should go away after approximately fifty
(50) brake applications and it is not an indication of brake malfunction.
