Spark Plug: Service and Repair

REMOVAL




1. Disconnect ignition wires from spark plugs at boot. Do not pull on the wire.




2. Remove spark plugs with suitable spark plug wrench.







NOTE: Spark plug wrench set is available in tool kit provided on vehicle. A type is for spark plugs except for No. 6 cylinder. B type is for No. 6 cylinder.


Use standard type spark plug for normal conditions.

Spark Plug ID (NGK)
Standard: FR5AP-10
Hot: FR4AP-10
Cold: FR6AP-10

NOTE:
The hot type spark plug is suitable when spark knock may occur with the standard type spark plug such as:
- Frequent engine starts.
- Low ambient temperatures.

The cold type spark plug is suitable when spark knock may occur with the standard type spark plug such as:
- Extended highway driving.
- Frequent high engine revolution.

INSTALLATION




When installing spark plugs to No. 2 and 4 cylinders, securely fit each ignition wire mounting hole onto the ignition wire fixing pin.

Spark plug: 20 - 29 Nm (2.0 - 3.0 kg-m, 14 - 22 ft-lb)
