SERVICE INFORMATION
If a 1996-99 Pathfinder exhibits steering shimmy while driven at speeds between 60 and 70 MPH (without braking), the cause may be out-of-balance front or rear tires/wheels and/or insufficient steering rack sliding force adjustment.
NOTE: Steering shimmy is defined as a constant left to right or rotational motion in the steering wheel without applying the brakes. Up and down vibration of the steering wheel is not considered steering shimmy.
SERVICE PROCEDURE

Use the repair flow chart to determine the cause of the steering shimmy and apply the correct repair procedure to resolve the incident.
