Service Procedure
DIAGNOSIS:1. Confirm that one of the noises exists as described in the bullet points above.
2. Verify the condition of insufficient window clearance by applying a solution of soapy water into the glass run rubber area at the bottom of the A-Pillar/door mirror. Cycle the window up/down/up.
A. If the noise still exists after the soapy solution is applied, this bulletin does not apply. Investigate for other causes of the noise.
B. If the noise is gone, use the Repair procedure provided below to resolve the incident.
REPAIR:
1. Lower the window.
Figure 1:
2. Beginning in the middle of the A-Pillar, remove the leading edge of the glass run rubber, working down to the top edge of the door finisher (see Figure 1).
3. Pull the run rubber partially out of the door channel (see Figure 1).
NOTE:
Do not remove the run rubber completely from the door channel. It is only necessary to remove enough of the run rubber from the channel to completely expose the hard foam rope seal located within the folds of the run rubber (see Figure 1).
Figure 2:
4. Peel away and remove the 6 mm (.24 inch) diameter, 110 mm (4.4 inch) long hard foam rope seal from the run rubber (see Figure 2).
Figure 3:
5. Insert the new soft foam run rubber seal in place of the hard foam rope seal (see Figure 3).
Figure 4:
6. Re-install the glass run rubber. Feed the run rubber back into the door channel (see Figure 4).
NOTE:
If the run rubber is pulled completely out of the door channel, apply a small amount of soapy water solution to it and feed it down into the door channel.
Make sure the notch/guide on the run rubber is placed on top of the door's vertical channel (see Figure 4).
7. Cycle the window up/down/up and test that the noise is gone.
8. Repeat Steps 1 through 7 for the other front window, if necessary.
