RATTLE NOISE IN FRONT DOOR FINISHER

SERVICE INFORMATION

If a 1996-99 Pathfinder exhibits a rattle noise coming from the door finisher speaker grill or the top rear edge of the door during certain low frequencies when the radio volume is increased, use the following service procedure to resolve the incident.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Confirm which door(s) exhibits the rattle noise when the radio volume is increased (low frequencies emitted).

A. If the rattle noise occurs, proceed with step 2.

B. If the rattle noise does not occur, look for other causes of the rattle noise.

2. Remove the front door finisher.

3. Install both felt insulation pads (refer to the Parts Information table for the felt insulation pad P/N) to the back side of the door finisher (see Figure 1) using weather strip adhesive such as 3M(R). "Super Weather Strip Adhesive" P/N 051135-08001 or equivalent.

NOTE:
Apply the weather strip adhesive to the perimeter of each insulation pad (see Figure 1).

4. Re-install the door finisher.

5. Turn the radio on and increase the volume to ensure the rattle noise is eliminated.
