1996-97 TRUCK MIL "ON"; DTC P0110 DUE TO DAMAGED HARNESS/INTAKE AIR TEMP SENSOR BRACKET

SERVICE INFORMATION

If a 1996-97 Truck has a MIL "ON" and DTC P0110 stored in the ECM, a countermeasure intake air temp sensor bracket is available to help prevent harness damage when servicing the air cleaner.

This bracket should also be installed to replace the air temp sensor bracket if it is broken for any reason.

Use the information in this bulletin to diagnose and repair the vehicle.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Inspect the intake air temp sensor circuit and determine if there is an open or short.





A. If an open/short exists in the main harness portion, repair as required and install the countermeasure intake air temp sensor bracket and gasket shown (see Figure 1).

B. If an open/short exists in the portion of the harness included with the intake air temp sensor, replace the sensor and install the countermeasure intake air temp sensor bracket and gasket (see Figure 1).

NOTE:
Apply a thin layer of Permatex Sensor Safe RTV Silicon Part # 6B (or equivalent) to the sensor flange prior to installing the intake air temp sensor assembly to the bracket.

CAUTION:
Do not get silicon on the sensor element.
