Brake Caliper: Service and Repair

Exploded View Of Front Disc Brake Assemblies:






REMOVAL
^ Remove the pad lining assembly as outlined under "Brake Pad." Service and Repair

WARNING: CLEAN BRAKE PADS WITH A VACUUM DUST COLLECTOR TO MINIMIZE THE HAZARD OF AIRBORNE PARTICLES OR OTHER MATERIALS.





DISASSEMBLY
1. Push out piston and dust cover with compressed air.
^ Use a wooden block so that both pistons come out evenly.

WARNING: DO NOT PLACE YOUR FINGERS IN FRONT OF PISTON.

2. Remove piston seal with a suitable tool.

CAUTION:
^ Do not scratch or score cylinder wall.
^ The pistons are made of plastic, handle them carefully.




Piston Assemblies:





ASSEMBLY
1. Insert piston seal into groove on cylinder body.
2. With piston boot fitted to piston, insert piston boot into groove on cylinder body and install piston.
3. Properly secure piston assembly boot.

Installing Caliper Assembly And Brake Hose:




INSTALLATION
1. Install caliper assembly.
2. Install brake hose to caliper securely.
3. Install all parts and secure all bolts.
4. Refill with new "DOT 3" brake fluid and never reuse drained brake fluid.
5. Bleed air from the hydraulic system. Service and Repair
