SERVICE INFORMATION

Use this bulletin to repair a 1995 Truck (California with 2WD and M/T), any 1996 Truck or early 1997 Trucks that have a verified complaint of an objectionable noise from the EVAP canister purge volume control valve. The noise lasts for a few seconds.

The valve used on 1997 Trucks can be used to reduce the noise. However, in addition to the installation of the 1997 valve you must also replace the mounting bracket, mounting bolts and the two hoses connected to the control valve.

SERVICE PROCEDURE





1. Remove the two control valve connecting hoses (see Figure 1).

2. Remove the electrical connector.

3. Remove the EVAP canister purge volume control valve.

4. Remove the vacuum tank from the mounting bracket.

5. Remove the mounting bracket.

6. Install a new 1997 mounting bracket.

7. Install the vacuum tank on the new bracket.

8. Use new bolts to install the new 1997 control valve on the bracket.

9. Connect two new 1997 connecting hoses.

10. Connect the electrical connector.
