Wheels/TPMS - Proper Installation Of Wheel Cover

No: TSB-11-00-006

DATE: December, 2011

MODEL: 2012 "i"

SUBJECT:

WHEEL COVER ALIGNMENT

PURPOSE

Incorrect alignment of the wheel cover on Mitsubishi "i" models with steel wheels can cause TPMS sensor damage. This TSB explains the proper installation of the wheel cover to the wheel. These instructions also supplement TSB-11-00-013 - PDI Procedures for 2012 Mitsubishi

AFFECTED VEHICLES

2012 "i" with steel wheels

PROCEDURE

An alignment tab has been added to the wheel rim near the TPMS sensor valve stem. A corresponding locating boss on the wheel cover fits over the tab and ensures proper alignment.

1. Position the wheel cover over the TPMS sensor valve stem.

A valve stem icon on the rear surface of the wheel cover indicates the proper opening for the valve stem.

Align the valve with the A mark on the face of the wheel cover.

Position the valve stem inboard of the retaining wire. Make sure the valve is not pinched between the wheel cover and the retaining wire. This can cause a poor fit and the stress on the valve may damage it.

2. Position the locating boss over the alignment tab as shown in the illustration.

3. Press the wheel cover onto the wheel until it is fully seated.
