INSPECTION PROCEDURE 7: The vehicle moves with the P-range.
COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
The transaxle control cable, shift lever assembly, or transaxle assembly may have a problem.
PROBABLE CAUSES
- Malfunction of the transaxle control cable
- Malfunction of the shift lever assembly
- Malfunction of the transaxle assembly
DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
STEP 1. Check for transaxle control cable installation
Check the transaxle control cable for installation condition.
Q. Is the check result normal?
YES Go to Step 2.
NO Install the transaxle control cable properly. (Refer to Service and Repair.)
STEP 2. Transaxle control cable operation check
1. Disconnect the connection of the transaxle assembly and the transaxle control cable.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and depress the brake pedal. Check that the transaxle control cable works when shift lever is moved to P[=]R.
Q. Is the check result normal?
YES Go to Step 5.
NO Go to Step 3.
STEP 3. Retest the system.
Q. Does a malfunction take place again?
YES Replace the transaxle control cable.(Refer to Service and Repair.) Then, go to Step 4.

STEP 4. Retest the system.
Q. Does a malfunction take place again?
YES Replace the shift lever assembly. (Refer to Service and Repair.)
NO This diagnosis is complete.
STEP 5. Retest the system.
Q. Does a malfunction take place again?
YES Replace the transaxle assembly. (Refer to Removal and Replacement.)
